Gary Eisen Punished by the Michigan Legislature for Saying the Quiet Parts Out Loud

Meet Gary Eisen.

Gary is a Michigan State Rep from St. Clair. Gary likes guns.

He likes guns.

He really likes guns.

Gary Eisen is a Michigan State Representative for the 81st State House District. The St. Clair Township resident enjoys welding enormous gun lockers for his wife and teaching CCW and Kung Fu classes. He also enjoys passing laws in the Michigan State House to make businesses and government buildings responsible for shootings if they’re gun-free zones. He posts pictures of his guns when making statements about things he doesn’t like Governor Whitmer doing or saying. What a great guy!

Eisen is one of 16 seditious state legislators who signed an amicus brief supporting Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s lawsuit to the US Supreme Court. When that wasn’t enough to “steal the Rigged Election,” he joined a group of Republicans who decided to declare themselves the state electors and elect Donald Trump for president. In contrast, the actual electors elected Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, President, and Vice President. Eisen convinced himself what he and his Michigan GOP colleagues were doing was so revolutionary it could lead to violence. How confident was he of this? He boldly went on a local radio station and proclaimed the revolution was coming to Lansing Monday afternoon.

The “historic event” that would turn the capital into a war zone and “no” Lansing was not going to have a safe day on Monday, December 14, 2020, was much less than what Eisen promised on the airwaves:

And later that afternoon, when the Michigan State Police denied access to the  GOP ersatz electors, Eisen admitted defeat in a statement:

“I regret the confusion over my comments this morning, and I want to assure everyone that those of us who are supporting an alternative slate of electors intend to do so peacefully and legally. I wanted to attend today’s event to help prevent violence, not promote it. I no longer plan to go to the Capitol with that group today.

“My comments were meant to reflect that while our group intends to be peaceful, I did not feel I could speak for other groups. Apparently some people are making credible threats of violence today, and I am glad local law enforcement is on the scene preventing any such action and keeping everyone safe. Our group, who will also be at the Capitol today to request to be seated as electors, intends to participate in our democracy peacefully. We are all concerned about safety today and hopeful for a safe, legal and clear process at the Capitol.”

Gary Eisen lost his committee appointments for the few days left of the current legislative session in Lansing. Eisen, however, has a reputation for making threats on social media and personally against Governor Whitmer and others when they do things he doesn’t like. In other words, he’s a Republican.

A pile of spent shell casings has more business holding public office than Gary Eisen. His attempt to incite violence yesterday at the Michigan State Capital is another strike against Michigan Republicans and their approval of promoting violence against elected officials when they don’t get their way. Our Governor has already withstood attacks on her life. The final stages of the 2020 election and the upcoming inauguration in 2021 will not be the end of the Michigan Republican Party’s determination to undermine our elected officials and the will of the state’s residents.
